The other day, I had a powerful and intriguing conversation with a friend who could not stop ranting and raving about something called a Yoni Steam. To be honest, I had never heard of it. But she was glowing with excitement, saying it was one of the most freeing and rejuvenating things she’d ever experienced.

Naturally, I got curious.

I did my own research and here’s what I discovered:

Yoni Steaming Explained

Yoni steaming—also known as vaginal steaming or V-steaming—is an ancient, natural wellness practice that involves sitting or squatting over a pot of steaming water infused with herbs like:

  • 🌿 Mugwort
  • 🌿 Rosemary
  • 🌿 Wormwood
  • 🌿 Basil

The steam is believed to gently cleanse the vagina and uterus, help regulate menstrual cycles, ease cramps, reduce bloating, and promote overall reproductive wellness.


Potential Benefits of Yoni Steaming

Here’s what I found fascinating—yoni steaming may:

  • ✅ Relieve menstrual cramps and bloating
  • ✅ Support postpartum healing
  • ✅ Ease vaginal dryness and pain during intercourse (especially for menopausal women)
  • ✅ Help with yeast and vaginal infections
  • ✅ Promote healthy vaginal odor
  • ✅ Encourage relaxation and emotional release

The Arvigo tradition recommends steaming at least three times per year for maintenance, especially for women who are menopausal. If dealing with chronic symptoms, steaming up to three times per week may enhance results.

Why I’m Considering It

As someone who lives with Sickle Cell Disease, I know how important it is to prioritize gentle, supportive, and holistic self-care. Although I haven’t tried a yoni steam yet, I’ve definitely added it to my post-recovery spa day bucket list.

Because after years of hospital rooms, surgeries, and medication—I believe I deserve soft moments, sacred rituals, and spaces that help me feel like me again.
